The Devil’s Pool – I want to TRY this!

The aptly-named Devil’s Pool is definitely one of the most surreal locations on Earth. It is a small natural rock pool on the edge of one of the biggest, most beautiful waterfalls in the world, the Victoria Falls, located along the Zambezi River on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Devil’s Pool is adjacent to Livingstone Island on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River. This is where David Livingstone first set eyes on the Victoria Falls remarking “scenes so lovely must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight”.

For most of the year, anyone foolish enough to enter the water would be instantly swept over the edge to his death.

During the dry season which usually lasts from September to December, Devil’s Pool is shallow enough that people can safely swim right to the edge before the waterfall drops more than 300 feet. You don’t get swept down by the force of the falls because of a natural rock wall just below the surface. This is as close as you can get to the thunderous roar and permanent rainbows that adorn this magnificent Natural World Wonder.

Lying right at the edge of the fall.

The Devil’s Pool

Don’t try this if you have a fear of heights.

A man and his young son looking over the waterfalls.

Only a slippery, submerged lip of rock stands between these bathers and a 100m drop over the world’s largest waterfall.

Once you get close to the right spot it takes a bit of courage to make a leap of faith, jump in from a rock, and trust you will not get swept over the edge. There is a safety line to hold onto when you’re swimming to get to Devils’ Pool in case the current is too much for you.

If you are looking for a taste of life on the edge and loves a sudden rush of adrenalin, this just has to be the place.

Tourists challenge gravity at the edge of the falls.

The Devil’s Pool experience is popular and is only possible when conditions are right, usually September – December.

One thrill-seeker is brave enough to stand on the ledge above the falls.

A father poses with his youngster perilously close to the 100m drop.

DAMN!!! I am so envious with these tough people! hahaha! 🙂 Let me ask you, if given a chance would you dare try that once in a lifetime crazy to death experience? For me, HELL YEAHhh!

Do What Makes You Happy!

Settling for less than you deserve is a route that many people choose in order to project the illusion to everyone else that they are happy. When we settle for less than we deserve we are hurting ourselves. Sure settling might be the most realistic choice you have right now, but that is only because you are choosing to not be safe, but instead are taking a chance on finding a love of a lifetime or never being able to find a love that you may think you deserve.

When we choose someone to be with, we should choose someone who is willing to make us feel as though we are alive every single day. Waking up to someone who we deserve will put a smile on our face every morning, and a smile on our face every night before we go to sleep. Someone we deserve will have us feeling alive inside, will be somebody that we are really attracted to, not only physically, but mentally, and spiritually. Don’t settle for what may seem okay, settle for being in love and being with someone who only wants to see you happy!

Spread LOVE not HATE…

With the emergence of social networking sites like Facebook, and the vast uprising of personal blogs and other types of internet technologies, it is now easier than ever to voice opinions and other types of propaganda, and be heard/seen by more people than ever before. A lot of people are using these new gateways to reach people and spew hate in the form of bullying one another, starting hate groups, and even terrorist organizations. Why not use these new technologies to spread more love, and to get to know one another on a deeper personal level in order to better understand and tolerate each other?

Life is too short to be angry and to spread anger and hate. We must love while we live as much as we can. We must look out for those who are less fortunate than us. We must spread waters of peace over blazing fires full of anger, dreadfulness and war. We must spread more love than there is hate in this world!

Don’t Judge A Person. It Defines Who You Are!

When we sit back and judge others we are simply saying that we are in a sense, better than them. When in fact we have no right to judge anyone, for we are all with sin. The only entity that has the capacity to judge anyone is God himself and no one else.

Many people are infatuated with judging others, because it subconsciously boosts their confidence being able to say whether what someone else is doing or what someone else looks like is the right thing to do or the right way to look. When we pass judgment on other people we are in no way giving them a definition or a title, we are only saying things about who we identify as, such as the fact that we probably don’t really have much self confidence and also that our sense of morality is distorted. Define who you are, by not judging, and instead by helping!

Judging a person does not define who they are. It defines who you are.
